WELCOME TO AUSMUN 2025!

OUR THEME:
Generation
The theme for AUSMUN 2025 is Generation. The word Generation has two meanings: A group of people born and living at the same time, and the production or creation of something. At AUSMUN, our goal is to fully encapsulate the word. With the first definition, we aim to bring together the best of our generation. A generation that is already known for creating change and promoting progress, united at one conference, solving modern-day issues that affect the future of our generation in ways unfathomable to previous generations. With the latter definition, we seek to generate change. Whether in crisis rooms or standard rooms - from issues over sports betting and AI to the fictional issues of The Matrix or the medieval Knights of the Round Table, we are working to change narratives, promote a variety of opinions, present new solutions, and eventually bring our ideas out into the real world. Change is inevitable; we must embrace it and overcome its difficulties to create a more productive future. Heraclitus notably stated that “No man ever steps in the same river twice.” Our world is constantly shifting, the geopolitical stage is always transforming, and it is our duty as the next generation of changemakers to acknowledge this change and move forward. Additionally, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, a German philosopher, often brought up the idea of "Dialectical Progress”, generating change and moving forward by encouraging debate and bringing together opposing viewpoints through the process of creating a thesis, antithesis, and synthesis. He then repeating the process, thereby acknowledging that progression is not always linear, but often cyclical and reflectionary. Generation carries multiple meanings and understandings, and it is your job as delegates to interpret it for yourselves. Represent your generation; promote innovation, equality, and progress. Generate change; lead with confidence, propose unique solutions, and focus on unity rather than division.
Esteemed Delegates and Sponsors,
My name is Cameron Long and this year I am honored to serve as the Secretary General of AUSMUN 2025.
As I enter my third year in Model UN and final year at Austin High, I could not be more excited to share the incredible experiences that AUSMUN has given me. A program that prides itself on inclusivity, diplomacy, and creativity, Austin High MUN has grown to be one of the largest programs in AISD and an extremely important community to me. Model United Nations is a place where students can grow in all aspects of becoming future leaders. From public speaking to controversial compromises, watching students (including myself) experiment and grow at every conference has been one of the most rewarding experiences. I cannot wait to extend this opportunity to delegates at AUSMUN 2025.
Our board has worked tirelessly in cultivating a thorough yet innovative conference, anticipating AUSMUN’s largest attendance ever. This year we are excited to offer a multitude of topics and committees that are open to delegates of all Model UN experiences. In reference to this year’s theme, we hope to evoke change and foster a new group of leaders. In a constantly evolving world, it is essential that we too, as a generation, challenge what is already known and bring new perspectives and ideas to the table. This year at AUSMUN we are holding our delegates to high expectations, not to speak the loudest or voice their opinions the most, but to collaborate, learn, and grow as the authors of our future.
By partnering with Keep Austin Fed, Austin High Model UN is promoting innovative solutions to century old problems. The local nonprofit is dedicated to reducing hunger and protecting the environment by offering surplus food to neighbors in need; Keep Austin Fed now salvages thousands of meals each month from landfills and relocates them to individuals and families facing food insecurity. The organization’s core values of connection, flexibility, and integrity align directly with what AUSMUN’s outreach program hopes to instill and accomplish with our generation. We are proud to be working with Keep Austin Fed and of their impact on our local community.
On behalf of the AUSMUN Secretariat and the entirety of Austin High Model UN, thank you for joining us this year as we work to generate change for generations to come. AUSMUN would not be possible without you all. See you on September 27th!
Sincerely,
Cameron Long
Secretary General
Message From the Secretary General
This year's Charity: Keep Austin Fed
Message from Jettie Collins
Hello, my name is Jettie Collins, and I’m the proud Undersecretary of Outreach. I’m forever grateful to be a part of the Austin High Model United Nations program, a program so supportive and passionate about the future. I am honored to announce our selected charity for the 2025 AUSMUN conference, Keep Austin Fed!
Keep Austin Fed is a local nonprofit dedicated to reducing hunger and protecting the environment by offering surplus food to neighbors in need. Founded in 2004 after its founder redeemed high-quality catered food from being discarded, the organization now salvages thousands of meals each month from landfills and relocates them to individuals and families facing food insecurity. Keep Austin Fed works alongside shelters, affordable housing communities, organizations serving older adults, refugees, food pantries, and people with disabilities. The organization strives not only to supply nutritious food but also to decrease methane emissions caused by food waste. They also hold weekly grocery giveaways to reach out to deprived individuals directly. Through secure partnerships, devoted volunteers, and a focus on sustainable impact, Keep Austin Fed is helping Austin communities prosper while addressing the far-reaching implications of food waste.
Visit Keep Austin Fed to learn more about its impact on our community. There are many ways to get connected with Keep Austin Fed, such as Volunteering or Donating Food. Supporting food security and sustainability will forever be a vital pillar of the Austin community. Austin High Model United Nations is proud to support Keep Austin Fed during this year’s AUSMUN conference.
Best,
Jettie Collins
Undersecretary of Outreach
